Officers on USS Justin See Mysterious Lights

September 1, 1908: Hawaii

A mysterious flying craft with white, blue, and red lights, was seen by officers on the U.S.S. Justin between Koko Head and Diamond Head, Hawaii.  The craft’s lights were said to be brightly burning in the night sky.  The event was so mysterious, the officers questioned whether they were visited by a “flying ghost” or if they were dreaming?

The identity of the lights was not confirmed although all possible attempts were made by the officers.  While the Justin was between Koko and Diamond Head, officers distinctly saw the vessel approaching them.  The officers described the event where they first saw a white light that looked like an electric light.  Immediately after seeing the white light, a blue light glowed.  While they were adjusting their glasses the blue light disappeared and red lights appeared.

The Justin steered directly toward the place where the light was burning but to the great surprise of the officers, the lights disappeared.  The night was dark and the lights could clearly be seen.  The officers are certain there was something wrong with the sea between Koko and Diamond Head.

The whole event is a mystery.  The lights were on the wrong side of the supposed vessel, which made the officers of the Justin all the more anxious to know about the mystery.
